About the job
The Rail Traffic Unit is responsible for permits, supervision, regulatory development, approvals, and registry maintenance within the rail sector. The unit is also tasked with monitoring the competitive situation in the market for railway services. This means, among other things, overseeing that railway companies and other applicants' access to railway infrastructure and service facilities is done in a competition-neutral and non-discriminatory manner. Rail traffic has a complex and extensive regulatory framework for traffic safety based on having a functioning safety management system. You will be one of those who, through supervision, ensures that rail traffic operators comply with regulations. You may also participate in national and international regulatory work. Travel is included.

You will
- contribute to the development of our supervision based on the mandates we have in our mission
- conduct inspections within the rail traffic area. This means you perform inspections to ensure that rail traffic complies with applicable requirements and regulations. At the Transport Agency, we work with risk-based supervision, which means we conduct inspections where they are most beneficial.
- work with permit processing when needed in our unit.
- participate in regulatory work within the rail traffic area. This means you will contribute to the development and updating of regulations and guidelines that govern rail traffic. You will use your expertise to create clear and effective rules that promote safety, quality, and functionality in rail traffic.
You must have
- an academic degree in a relevant field for the position, such as traffic safety, urban planning, transport logistics, or other education that we consider equivalent
- very good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish
- good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in English.
It is meritorious if you also have
- current experience of qualified investigative work or analytical tasks
- current experience from system or quality inspections
- current experience from the railway technical area, alternatively tram technology or subway technology
- current experience regarding development and change work.

More information
The employment is permanent with placement in Borlänge. Appointment by agreement. We normally apply a probationary period. As an employee with us, there is an opportunity to work remotely up to three days a week. The needs of the business and the nature of the tasks will determine whether and to what extent this is possible.
Employment with us may involve placement in a security class. A security review with a background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) may therefore be conducted. For some of our tasks in the security class, Swedish citizenship is required.

About the Transport Agency
Number of employees: About 2000.
Areas of operation: The Transport Agency works to achieve good accessibility, high quality, safe and environmentally friendly transport within rail, aviation, shipping, and road. We develop regulations, grant permits, and follow up on compliance. With the help of our registers, we work with fees, permits, and ownership transfers.
Locations: We have employees in 12 locations across the country. The largest part of the operation is located in Borlänge, Norrköping, and Örebro. The head office is located in Norrköping.
About the Road and Railway Department
The Road and Railway Department consists of five units with associated sections. We are about 390 employees and are located in ten locations, with the largest part of the operation placed in Borlänge, Gothenburg, and Kista. We design regulations, assess and grant permits, supervise, and compile statistics on accidents and incidents within the road and railway area. We work for an efficient market with healthy competition.
